Honorary Consuls

Even after a long and extensive history, we are nowadays a rather active, big and influential group of people with different background from business, academic, culture and various organizations, representing basically whole world world in Finland.

There are currently 203 Honorary Consuls representing approx. 100 different countries in Finland and some countries have several Honorary Consuls around the country. Please click the list of countries below for additional information about the Honorary Consul and their contact details.

Currently 16 of us are nominated as Honorary Consul General, further 179 are Honorary Consuls and 9 are Honorary Vice Consuls.  Furthermore, over 140 of all acting Consuls are representing a country in Europe, rest of us are representing a country in Middle-East or Africa,  Asia and Oceania or South and Central America. 167 of the acting Hon. Consuls in Finland are male and 34 female.

Despite the long history of Consular Corps in Finland, most of the acting Consuls have been appointed lately and total 80 % of them have started in their roles in this Millennium and actually 50% of us started in this decade.  New Honorary Consuls are appointed continuously to represent new countries in Finland or replace the ones retiring from their honorary positions. In addition to operating Honorary Consuls, the Consular Corps in Finland has around thirty Emeritus/Emerita i.e. former Honorary Consuls.
